Poinsettia

Plant Care: Poinsettias prefer moderate light, temperature and water. Do not place in direct sunlight and keep moist, but not sitting in water. Never allow them to dry out and always keep them away from hot or cold drafts.
Fun Fact: A native of the Taxco region of Mexico, poinsettias were cultivated by the Aztecs well before the arrival of the Europeans. The Aztecs regarded the plant as a symbol of purity, but also colored their cloth with a brilliant purple-red dye made from it's bracts.

Sunflower

Name origin: From the Greek words helios (sun) and anthos (flower).

Fun fact: As you can see from the picture above, sunflowers don't always have a dark center. They also come in a mini variety and in the fall are sometimes dyed red.
